Video Game Themes

Unread postby H3RM3S78 » Sun Aug 23, 2009 6:22 pm

Some of the best music was actually composed for video games.

I'm still looking for a poster of Chun Li dressed in her traditional blue garments.

Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start!

When i heard this, i knew that gaming music had definately taken on a whole new level.

I once left the game go and picked-up my bass to play along.

This is my favorite game intro of all time. I really wish they had played up the music a lot more and made it much longer where the music goes full volume.

Katamari Damacy FTW!!

The American version of Sonic CD for the Sega CD had a great soundtrack by a guy named Spencer Nilsen.

I'm also a big fan of the soundtracks for an RPG series that was released on the TurboGraphix CD back in the day called Ys. Ys III was probably the best. Lotsa great techno rock and metal with orchestral surges.

I'm only slightly ashamed to admit that both take up space on my iPod now. :D

What a game this was, opening intro theme reminds me a bit of Enigma now

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" was his response. "I don't know", Alice answered. "Then", said the cat, "It doesn't matter.”

Since someone already took the initiative for FF music, I'll throw in some old school Batman.

How about some Golden Axe?

I guess it takes a firm belief in the invisible magician to properly sell a gun online. Who knew?-Shawna

Golden Axe was my favorite game in the arcades for a long time. The genesis version was pretty good too. The SMS version was... the SMS version.

I can't believe i have this game in my head after not seeing it for over 15 years. These metal versions and orchestral versions of game soundtracks don't impress me. Especially since they usually way over do it and screw up the simple essence of what makes any music great in the first place. Less is more!
